THE DANCE OF LEADERSHIP

Been reflecting so much on the teacher student relationship.

I've always taught dance but the journey of Dance Migration has been one that has pushed me to grow the most.
The dance of leadership of sharing, mentoring, and having students stay and then grow their wings to learn to fly.
I don't normally talk about this part ... but it's a feeling I think that can relate to when your children are ready to leave the house and go out into the world.
There is a grief that passes through that maybe you will be forgotten. This kind of sensation of aloneness that is difficult to explain.
The human elements come into the frame.
For myself - my work- it's a constant coming back to the sacredness of sharing. There is a feeling I cannot deny when I teach I am a vessel to share. And witnessing the transformation in front of me is so incredible. So when students go onward there can be a sense of loss because I don't always get to have the first hand witness of the continuous transformation.
TRUST. This is the Mantra. That the work laid a strong enough foundation to support them on their way and then RELEASE.
This is also my work - my study. My practice.
